I am very doubtful I personally will give this a shot. It doesn't sound good at all to me.

Mr. EB, I'll probably record it and at least look - I doubt I'll buy it or even like it but I have been wrong once or twice so I'll probably watch but I really don't see myself watching more than once and if it lives down to my expectations I may not even finish it the first time.

The thing that is bothering me the most about this is the same exact thing that bothered me so much about Bloodlines... no Wilson and Maddock and Roberts et al. Not having the Stampede crew, it just doesn't feel like Tremors anymore. :/
I guess at the very least the only thing I can really hope for is a Burt appearance. After sticking everything out, through the original followups, the first show, and even the new non-Stampede movies (where he proclaimed he even had to fight a bit to keep Burt "in character" as much as he could when the script was portraying him otherwise), it would be such a shame and a letdown to not give him a part here.

412, I agree with you completely. I'm afraid this is a "spin off" not a continuation of the franchise. Kind of like Star Trek Voyager vs Star Trek. Spin Off's are extremely rarely as good as the original. There are rare exceptions - Deep Space 9/Trouble with Tribbles mash up was spectacular but RARE!
It is tough to be excited about the new series when I KNOW I'll never find out about the "Invisabat" from the original series! Without the original characters and crew we are talking "Mongolian Death Worm" (full disclosure - I haven't watched it) NOT Tremors anything.
Just my not so humble opinion of course.

Mr El Blanco, is there any chance we can have a whole new subforum created for this series, now that it is actually moving forward? That way we can have a section to discuss this episode by episode, all of the casting news, etc. while preserving the current subforum for discussions on Tremors: The Series so that the two don't overly mix and individual threads remain easy to find?

Thanks man!
It is an interesting and odd time to be a Tremors fan right now, that's for sure.

Michael Gross confirms that he is not part of the series.
Really, really hoping that things change. Maybe Burt currently isn't written in, but will be at some point?

Well, Burt did start as a bit character in the first Tremors but to not even pay homage to his role is, in my not so humble opinion, malfeasance of the rankest kind! Even a cameo to introduce his ideological successor would be a step in the correct direction. Tylor Reed was developing into a kindred spirit when the series ended for example. In 'Flora or Fauna' when asked if the revolver was necessary, his answer of "half the time it is not enough' showed definite progress toward reality. (Yep, I just invoked "reality" in a show about a "plantimal" to use Larry's term) I think what I will miss with Burt's absence is someone who actually has a frigging clue about the way the universe works. He is as surprised by events as any of them ('I feel I was denied CRITICAL, NEED TO KNOW, Information!') but his preps are a base from which he can improvise a solution for survival. Most folks I talk to about the series like Burt but they don't realize that no one survives without his preps. Yes it was Val's idea that saved them in T1 but Burt's bombs. It was Earl's actions that saved them in T2 but Burt's truck. It was Jack's potato gun idea in T3 but Burt's skill and lighter. Hiram's return in T4 set the stage for victory Even in T5 it is Burt's ingenuity that wins the day. Without a Burt in the new mix, I have slight hope it will be appealing to me. Still, I might be surprised. I hope I am but ......
