Ok I changed my mind, this looks freaking awesome. What's up with that graboid tho? I thought the new graboids looked bad.

Why does nobody remember what a Graboid looks like? :/
Honestly, while there's some cool stuff there and it is nice seeing Val again, the tone of it feels almost too... mean spirited? Anyone else getting that feeling a bit.
I do hope the full pilot episode leaks so we can see it all in context.

Now that I've got the excitement out of the way and I've seen the trailer a couple of times, here are my thoughts on it.
I think it looks really well made, they look to have given it all with this pilot. This looked like movie quality stuff. Not sure it would have that Tremors feel of the original, but I loved the Perfection locale and that it doesn't look to have changed a whole lot. I really want to get acquainted with Val again, I so want to see him be a hero again. Oh, and if Fred Ward is indeed in this? My God...
Anyway, I wasn't blown away, but I was definitely impressed and I want this to become available and find a new home with another channel or streaming service. My minor complaint is the graboid, of course. Why make such drastic changes to it? It looks like one of those big worms in Peter Jackson's remake of King Kong. Why update the look of it so much when what will draw most viewers to the show is the original movie fresh in their minds? Oh well, other than that, sign me up!

Watched it a few more times to kind of soak it in.
"They don't plan, they don't strategize, they just kill." I seem to recall otherwise in 1990, but ok Val...
On one hand (CGI notwithstanding) this looks pretty slick. On the other hand, should Tremors look slick like this? It's got some really nice cinematography for a TV series of this caliber based on a 90s cult classic, but almost too refined for the rugged look that Tremors has always had. But hey, at least it isn't that horrid washed out look of the Don Michael Paul films. Seeing Perfection populated entirely by unfamiliar faces is just weird. I know Mindy and Melvin are supposed to be somewhere in there but I sure as hell couldn't tell you which ones were supposed to be them. Nobody in the trailer really seemed to have the eccentricities of the usual zany gangs of Perfectionites, but it is only two minutes of footage so who knows what they really would have been like. It's pretty surreal seeing Kevin Bacon as Val, so on that basis alone I'm glad this trailer has hit the web, but I do wish there was an Earl or a Burt or a Rhonda by his side. As it stands, elements of the trailer are coming across like a big Val McKee ego trip (which, fair, seems to be one of the demons the character would have been battling in the show so I can get behind that) but it would have been nice to have some old faces there to help him out and help ease us into this new splinter reality. Like I said above, it does seem to have a pretty mean spirited streak to it, but maybe that's just me? Anyone else getting that vibe?
That Graboid thing at the end is just garbage though. They go through a whole trailer showing us imagery of the classic design only to end with that thing. What is it supposed to be? The new Graboid? Some sort of larval form that replaces the baby Graboids from Tremors 4, perhaps?

Totally agree on the first point, several times in the first movie the characters are saying that the Graboids are trying new stuff, adapting, learning etc. So that line felt very out of place, shouldn't have come from Val's mouth. Not sure what you mean by a mean spirited streak though, could you elaborate?

Maybe mean spirited wasn't really the right phrase, but with how real and almost gritty everything feels here, it seems to really be putting emphasis on the sheer violence of the human deaths in a way that previous entries in the series haven't. But then again, this is a two minute trailer, it isn't the episode playing out in full, so who knows how things would have felt with the proper context. Tremors has always taken itself seriously enough to get by, but I also feel like there's been a lighthearted element to it that was kind of absent from this trailer, if that makes any sense.
I dunno. I still want to see the pilot if it leaks, just to see what would have been. But as with the last two films, I just really miss the "feel" that Stampede gave this universe. Bloodlines/A Cold Day in Hell have their thing going, and this has its thing, and there is merit to all of that, but none of is ever really going to fully capture the Tremors feeling because there are always certain pieces of that that are going to be missing when you don't bring the whole band back together.

Seems like there may be a chance that they might air this as a one-and-done TV movie.

I see what you mean. I actually didn't get the feeling that this will be a very serious & gritty show, Val seems like he may be quite a buffoon and will be the butt of lots of jokes, to use an example.

worm design too bad. nor does it resemble a graboid. It was still good that it was canceled.

Copyright, perhaps?
But I agree, since blood lines i don't get more excited about the movies due to the absence of the classic graboid. The african one is not to bad, but i don't like the way it jumping on the ground like a fish in the water. Is very fanciful. The african AB's is a generic ugly creature.

Do you have an account here, but forgot your login info? If not, feel free to sign up and join in on the Tremors discussion with the rest of us I was also thinking about the copyright thing, but Tremors is still Universal property so the show wouldn't have to worry about that. I think they just want to spice things up with the look of the creatures, which IMO isn't necessary.
