I started to wonder something about this vehicle recently.
In A Little Paranoia Amongst Friends, Burt mentions that his powerwagon requires special tyres because his powerwagon is a heavy vehicle and normal tyres will collapse under the weight of the truck.
I'm wondering if he designed it to be especially heavy so a Graboid wouldn't be able to drag it underground.

Perhaps but I assume (with all that that implies) that Burt simply has a Heavy Duty version of the Chevy Blazer. Depending on options it came with up to a 400 cu. in. gas V8 or a 6.5L Diesel. This beast with an off road package (4 wheel drive, heavy shocks, tow package, skid plates to protect the underbelly) was HEAVY. On prepared surfaces, the weight alone would chew up auto tires. Off road, standard tires were gone in short order. Good catch on what is going on - I just think that with it loaded (.50BMG ammo is HEAVY and I'm sure he had a LOT of it!)

now to finish my sentence .... I just think that with it loaded the basic truck tires wouldn't last in rough country.

Hmm, now I'm curious to know exactly what he has in the back of the powerwagon. I imagine as a survialist, he has lots of equipment in the back in "case of emergency". The only thing I remember specifically is when Rosalita asks for a screwdriver and hammer, he produces one in fairly short order. And there's also some storage tanks attached to the outside, which could be for fuel or water.
Have they ever indicated what the crane/hook attachment on the front is for? I've seen the winch on the front used once, but I don't think that was part of the crane.

I think you are referring to the tow bar that is attached to the front of the power wagon. If you were going cross country in an RV (Burt's RV would have to be way cool!) towing the power wagon would be a good way to get a recon vehicle along with you. It is probably there to look 'tactical' for the series but in truth, it could have some legitimate uses. The back of the power wagon has (based on what he has pulled out of there or talked about) rifles in several calibers (.50 BMG and a full auto something (probably a .308), anywhere from 500 to a thousand rounds for each caliber carried, 40mm flare gun, 72 hours of food, water, first aid, light, and shelter. Add the fact that water is 8.5 lbs/gal and gas is 6.5 lbs/gal and you rack up the weight fairly fast. Just a guess of course but that is what I'd have.

Buckmana started this thread on Burt's power wagon. If he doesn't object I'd like to expand it a bit. Assuming that the tow hitch on the front is to allow the power wagon to be pulled behind his RV, my question is this: How do you see Burt's RV dressed out? I'll start with this thought: I think diesel for the engine and generator systems would be preferable. That said, Burt doesn't use diesel for anything on any show. Jody doesn't seem to carry diesel so maybe that is a driver but diesel lasts longer in storage. Any comments on that or anything else you'd want in the RV?
