Burt, I completely agree - I am really impressed with the skills of the production crews in these movies. Science fiction films rarely get the credit they deserve for their production values because it is "juvenile" entertainment. (Insert your favorite 45 minute rant against Hollywood blowhards here.)

Definitely. Tremors has been one of my favorite Horror films for a number of reasons. I would probably consider it my second favorite. I just love it. I may make a thread stating all the reasons why I do, it'll take a lot of time, but should be fun.

Burt, You didn't tell us your favorite. I'm more of a Sci-Fi kind of guy than Horror although that line can blur. I loved 'Forbidden Planet' but that was a remake of Shakespear's Tempest so go figure. I like the original Godzilla - bad production values but surprisingly well done. Is a Monster movie Horror or Sci-Fi? For horror only few could top Hitchcock in films like "The Birds" although some of the 'Outer Limits' and 'Twilight' zone stuff was amazing. Not a lot of special effects but I think I like that better. The visualizations in my mind are way scarier than what is on most screens. The original 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers' was terrifying in black and white. After seeing the adds for the remake I haven't bothered to see it. The remake of 'The Day the Earth Stood Still' was a decent flick but not nearly as suspenseful as the original (of course I still like the short story best). 'Them!' had some really hokey (by modern standards) ants but a great monster flick. 'When Worlds Collide' wasn't a monster flick but it had a real element of horror to it. Saving people from a flood just so they could die in the collision of worlds was an interesting twist. I'd hate to claim my favorite Horror, Monster or Sci-Fi flick. That would be really tough. (although Tremors is in there, just not sure what category.)

Oh, I agree. I have never seen such excellent work in a 'low budget' film before or since. The production crews did an amazing job. Yes, there are glitches (board breaking the window in T2 for example) but I am still amazed at just how effective the film and series are at making you flinch. Being swallowed alive in a car is one of those terror things for someone with claustrophobia (mild but definitely there) and it was very effectively done. I think I'd watch anything this crew put together. Wonder if they're going to do Tucker's Monster?

The scene where Jim is pulled under still gets me everytime and I have seen the films so many times I've lost count. Megan knew something was wrong right away and he should have listened to her, not that they would have got very far without the car keys! That whole scene just gets me everytime! Originally she was going to kick out the window and escape but it didn't work out so she ended up being buried alive! :/

I guess I'm a mild claustrophobic but I hate that scene as well. All of the 'sucked under' scenes get to me to one degree or another. Burt in the barrel is a nightmare cause he isn't dead! Gives me cold chills! Oh, I HATE Carlsbad, Mammoth, and you will see "new flash - Hades hit by ice storm" before you get me in any of these underwater cave survival idiocies. Not that I have strong feelings on the matter.

The part where Burt got ate by the graboid surprised me at first, but after the second time I watched Tremors 3, didn't surprise. In fact, there isn't one movie now that scares me. Not even Dog Soldiers and you see the heart, entrails, bones and brain of two werewolves' victim near the end in a close up when they are eating them, wasn't scared. Something like Dog Soldiers is child play for me. I've seen worse. Violence, Gore, scary images, jump scenes, profanity, don't bother me in any way.

Have you seen Alien? That is the only movie that scares me. Not because the Alien kills people, but because of the setting, the isolation, being cut off from humanity, as well as the fear of the unknown. And that is exactly what the Alien it, it is the unknown.

No but I saw Alien Ressurection. That didn't scare me. When I was twelve that was different, but after three years of watching horror movies, I've gotten used to gore. Even when I am eating, I can stand gore without getting sick. EDIT: Now this, scares me every time. My sixth grade history teacher showed it to (I was 13 at the time), scared the living crap out of me. www.youtube.com/watch?v=5I9UP1BaDcs&feature=relatedIt says its the jeepers creepers 3 trailer but its not, but if you hate an in your face jump scene, don't click. Other than this, NOTHING scares me or disturbs me. If it scares me, that is true scary.

When I watched Tremors initially I was only young and it was scary as hell but I've seen it hundreds of times over the years so it doesn't get me anymore although some scenes still make me jump I love horror films and can sit through pretty much anything but Aliens still gets me! Love the books and the films but I still have to look away at points!! Other than that I think zombie films are sooo scary!

I definitely recommend it, although it won't be as scary if you already saw one of the sequels.

I always jump when the Graboid almost gets Rhonda as she is getting into her car - right at the start. Also when the tongue almost gets Earl as they climb onto the rock with Rhonda. It's like a snake striking at your hand through a glass pane. You KNOW it can't get you but it doesn't matter, you flinch anyway. I've never seen anyone who didn't.

When I firat saw the scene of the car being pulled under on the big screen it was pretty powerful. I was screaming in my brain for her to turn off the dang radio.

Yep, I don't know which is worse - being eaten alive or being buried alive. Both thoughts give me the willies!
