I cannot watch the scene where the Graboids pull the station wagon under the sand. For some reason, it just scares me and I always fast forward it. Anyone else have a problem with that scene?

I don't like it either ... i think it is a claustrophobic thing for me ... i didn't like Carlsbad Caverns either ... that or a "buried alive" thing straight out of Poe. In any event, I'm not a fan of that scene either. the trapped and helpless with something trying to eat you alive is bad enough - doing it while buried alive? ?? YECH!

No. If I did skip that seen, it would be cause it's just plain boring, that's the most boring seen in the movie.

I finally decided (after looking at this thread) to watch the scene and overall, it was pretty cool. I think I overreacted.

Watching T1 again ... just noticed that in this scene the tongues don't seem to be able to break the windows in the station wagon but in all the other graboid - auto interactions they break the windows without much trouble. Are Ford station windows that much tougher or ? I also hated that it was Earl's horse that got hit ... I have a weakness for paints and that just hurts.

Slick point. Ya think the tongues have the power to break the back window of a station wagon.

Well, they didn't exectly know there was a person in the station wagon, just that the wagon was making sound, so they pulled under the whole wagon in one piece.

Project412 - could be ... maybe the worms are music critics and didn't WANT to get too close to the radio - I'm a country music fan but "Drop kick me Jesus through the Goal Posts of Live" pushes the envelope just a tad too far.
On a side note, how come in the Tremors movies and series all the radios (AM and CB) all work underground and I can't get mine to work inside the inner room of my house?

The scene I always have trouble with is near the end ... I ALWAYS jump as Burt climbs on the rocks just as the tongues reach for him. OK, I KNOW he's going to make it (similar reaction when the worm nearly gets Rhonda as she gets back into her truck - just not as strongly) but it's a Hitchcock kind of thing for me. I know it's coming, I know how it plays out, and I still JUMP! She who must be obeyed gives me a really bad time about it but I can't help it. It's like flinching when a snake in a glass cage strikes at your hand - I've never seen anyone who could avoid flinching ....

Few movies have a scene that will make you jump over and over again. Think of it as an accomplishment rather than a scare.
