Melvin could well be Russian. Like the KGB, the ends always justified the means. Burt is an interesting character. He comes across as a loner, but I've never seen him refuse to help, even when those he's helping got themselves into the mess all by themselves. He cares, cares a lot, but doesn't want anyone to think so.

I love it when I see Tremors characters in other programmes! Like I have been watching Charmed and you wouldn't believe how many of them have been in it. Tyler, Jack, Jodi from T3 & Jodi from the series, Senor Ortega, Black Hand Kelly and Twitch!
Also saw Jack on an episode of CSI and Burt was on How I Met Your Mother as Ted' dad!

Eternity8, Agreed, it is good to see the good guys working. I'm curious - how close to the Tremors characters where the other parts they were playing? One of the things I always liked about Michael Gross (Burt) is his ability to play such a variety of roles. He went from the liberal, Public TV guy in Family Ties to Burt in Tremors. He did both roles extremely well.

Does Burt become MORE Burt as the movies and series progress or was it only Heather that kept him in check? In T1 he doesn't put on a side arm until going up to the roof. In T2 he isn't wearing any when he arrives (OK, it is Mexico and legalities might be the reason) and doesn't appear to be wearing any when he makes his first kill. One assumes that at some point he put on the side arms. When he comes back after capturing the Shrieker he is packing 2 semi-auto's. They appear to be 9mm even though his wall in T1 had the Desert Eagle and both he and Reba seemed to have one on the rock at the end. In the series, he packs the DE and a knife instead of 2 guns with the knife in the boot as in T2. That is a reduction in numbers but it IS a .50 AE so I'm not sure if that is a step up or down. I'm a strong believer in never use a side arm unless you can't get to a long gun but sometimes the side arm is all that you can have. Carrying a Barrett M82 is a little obvious in a city setting. In any event, it seems that his style changes over time. What do you guys think, more paranoid or did Heather keep him in check?

i would have to say i think that heather kept bert in check a little bit or at least before she left him (and he was gettin' some) there was still a small portion of his mind thinking of other things besides battle i mean look at where he was after she left him before he found out there were more graboids didnt have blousing straps on his pants wasnt wearing a side arm was sitting in his basement watching old war movies with chip crumbs all over his self i think he full threw his attention to monster destruction as a way to get his mind as far away from heather as possible (which apparently didnt work you all heard the password to get into his bunker in a little paranoia) so i guess i would have to say it has to do with heather but it is not exactly heather who was keeping him in check more like heathers being there keeping him that way

One of the things I noticed in the movies and the series was the incredible lack of water available for desert dwellers. I lived in Phoenix for 12 years and we always had water in the cars or on us. I did note in the series that Burt has a canteen more often than not - it's on his hip in Frenzy when he rescues Tyler although he doesn't use it. He uses it in both Ghost Dance and in 4-12 but nobody else seems to have any. Jack pays homage to the desert in T3 by overcharging for drinks after he strands folks on the rock but otherwise, no one else ever seems to get thirsty!

My sister was watching iCarly tonight, and there was a new episode. I'm pretty sure J.D. Walsh guest starred in the episode, though they didn't play credits to confirm it, and imdb doesn't have the character listed under the episode.

I think that there are a lot of very diverse actors and actresses on Tremors.
For example, Reba McEntire who is one of my favourite singers has played so many different roles in her acting career and yet made every one of them her own.
She has done Broadway to her own comedy show, poignant films such as Is There Life Out There? and Forever Love to name a few and every time she takes on a different persona and makes it work!
She is very much a chameleon and can go easily from playing gun wielding Heather to a young woman who has a stroke to a single mum etc. She is just an amazing actress and singer!
