So out of curiosity I really wanted to know how much like the Stampede script and plan the movie really was. What better way than to message SS Wilson on Facebook. I did not expect to get and answer but I did. Which was pretty dang awesome. His answer to what he thought about the film? From SS Wilson Via Facebook Messenger 8/7/15 16:25 I'm still trying to figure out what I should, or want to, say about T-5. But I will Say that it would have been very very different. I will post a screen cap of it in case anyone is from Missouri. Or old enough to understand what that means. LOL

Thank you so much for reaching out. Didn't even think of doing that.
I really hope we do get to learn eventually what the Stampede version of the film would have been.

That is a script that I would love to be leaked, just to read!

That is a script that I would love to be leaked, just to read! Yep, me too but I really suspect that copyright/contract issues will keep it from happening. I am not a real fan of computer special effects but they are now unavoidable - not many want to pay for the old style stuff.

I'm really curious and puzzled why, after the success of the Tremors franchise up to and including Tremors 4 and the 13 episodes made for TV, what possible reason(s) there could be for Universal not to approach SS Wilson and/or Stampede Productions to make Tremors 5 (which I only learned of today) and then possibly Tremors 6 and so on. It seems odd to me that they wouldn't so surely there has to be a reason or reasons. Does anyone know what it/they might be?

I'm really curious and puzzled why, after the success of the Tremors franchise up to and including Tremors 4 and the 13 episodes made for TV, what possible reason(s) there could be for Universal not to approach SS Wilson and/or Stampede Productions to make Tremors 5 (which I only learned of today) and then possibly Tremors 6 and so on. It seems odd to me that they wouldn't so surely there has to be a reason or reasons. Does anyone know what it/they might be? Do I "KNOW" why? No but I have suspicions. The book "Seeking Perfection" (there is a thread in the General Tremors section) discusses quite a few of the friction points between the Wilson Tremors team and the studio. I suspect that the studio suits and bean counters were looking at a quick return on investment (ROI) and were not interested in sticking to the original movie/series world. I hate it when bean counters corrupt a product but realistically we Tremors fans are a very small number compared to the general audience pool. I fear Zombie movies have a bigger fan base than good science fiction themes like Tremors. I am a fan of really good Science Fiction like "This Island Earth", the original "The Day the Earth Stood Still", "Forbidden Planet" etc. Some even have really good plots and effects. The 50's version of "The War of the Worlds" contains some decent effects. "Them" and "The Thing" and other 50's classic have really good effects. Heck, anything Ray Harryhausen was involved in had great effects. "20 Million Miles to Earth" is very well done. Good story and good effects. Not as smooth as modern computer generated stuff perhaps but I prefer Harryhausen's work to most computer stuff. I even like bad Japanese monster movies. With the exception of the original Godzilla I doubt many would rate the monster series that come from Japan as "good", entertaining yes but good? I doubt it. I guess I resent and therefore don't like the film when computer graphics or the blood and gore genre replace acting and script. I often find the mistakes a charming part of the movie experience but I really get ticked when the studios go pure ROI and don't care about the story. I don't envy the studio their profit and I know the studio suits must maximize the return for the stockholders but in an art business, the accountants need to recognize that if they don't allow for artistic expression they are killing their own business. Just my own, not so humble opinion of course. Oh, and welcome to the page.
