I have been looking at ammo for my various weapons. I have begun to think many folks let dollar signs decide what they feed their weapons instead of concentrating on what will work for them. I'm not talking about practice ammo, we all have practice ammo that is cheap to buy so that we can shoot more. The thing is, if you don't shoot your "for score" ammo regularly you may not know if it really works in your weapon or if it shoots to point of aim or just how trust worthy is it really?
Just a reminder, if you haven't actually fired it through your weapon, you do not know if it works and you are playing "you bet your life" in a poker game without actually looking at your cards.

Just an additional thought; something we often don't discuss is the holster for our weapon. Some of Burt's tactical gear is really cool (from "Ghost Dance" - "Burt, you have the coolest toys" from Tyler as he picks up a low light monocular. OK, so Burt has the stuff but I can run around Houston wearing tactical gear and carrying a .50 BMG rifle. So, what I am now looking for is more ways to carry what I have. IWB, OWB, pocket, ankle, band and what about reloads? Depending on time of year I can be reduced to a pocket carry and that impacts what I can carry. A full sized 1911 will not fit in a pocket so I am now exploring various ways to carry my firearm, reloads, and the rest of my every day carry (EDC). What is your EDC?

Due to the life sucking , central Florida humidity, it's a diminutive Beretta Pico. It's pocket carried in a Desantis Superfly pocket holster. Add a Victorinox Spirit multitool, AA flashlight, lighter, keys, phone, sunglasses and sunhat. Wallet carries minimal duct tape, band aids, etc. Most clothing is of the moisture management, quick dry, nylon variety. Heat and humidity and sweat soaked clothes definitely influence what I feel is necessary carry.

tabasco, Yep, weather does change my daily carry. My normal wear is a western shirt with a vest. The vest lets me carry my 1911 easily. I'm not much for shorts but my summer wear is jeans and a T-shirt. By leaving the shirt tail out, I can still carry my 1911 and .357 Mag on my hip. As a final option, I have a a KEL TEC P11 that I pocket carry when I just can't carry a fire arm on my belt. Your EDC looks pretty good. I would add first a whistle. It is amazing how quickly the human voice goes away. If you are ever in a spot where you need to call for help over an extended period of time (think lost in the forest or trapped in a building). The other things I add are a cigarette lighter (always have a way to start a fire) and a compass. My whistle has one, my spare lighter fluid container has one and my phone has one. They are not what I'd choose to use for navigation but are good for emergency use. In addition to the Swiss Army knife, I have several other blades (all folders for EDC). While I have speed loaders for my revolvers, I also have the bianchi speed strips for use when I can't carry the speedloaders on my belt. www.amazon.com/s?k=bianchi+speed+strips&hvadid=77927939855943&hvbmt=be&hvdev=c&hvqmt=e&tag=mh0b-20&ref=pd_sl_49lhdr0jgm_e has examples. Not as fast as a speed loader but much faster than loose ammo.

I just saw a write up on a new Ruger product; the CarryHawk in .45LC and comes with a .45ACP cylinder. It is a single action and some folks don't like that but Single Actions sent many a person to meet their maker. It looks like the old style Vaquero with the birds head, rounded butt grip. I have one of those (Vaquero - early model) and really like it. I do carry it concealed on occasion and I really like the way the birds head grip handles recoil. I may have to get another Single Action once they become readily available.
I started cleaning everything in my safe the other day. It's been a little while and with all the weirdness going on, I figure making sure my weapons are in good shape.
Keep safe everybody.

OK, just kind of a dream list. These are guns I still want but may not end up with. First on the list is a .22 lever gun. This is absolutely not needed. I have a .22 but I like lever guns and I WANT one. Second is a lever gun in .357 Mag. OK, I might be using .38SPL in it but still, want one. I don't have a .357 Mag rifle in any form and this would be something I'd like. Finally, I've never shot a .44-40. I know they were the majority of lever guns were .44-40; the .45 Colt was never chambered in the lever guns of the day. The Army used .45 Colt handguns but .45-70 rifles. The .44-40 was one of the most popular calibers out west. I'd really like a pair of single action Colts and a lever gun in .44-40. Probably will never go there either but it would be fun. I've considered looking into a .44Mag rifle and SSA so I could shoot .44SPL (wrists too old for full power .44Mag) but that is money I don't need to spend. Oh, well, I guess if I had everything I wanted I wouldn't have anything to dream about.

I have been a little bit in and out of here lately so I figured I'd catch up with a reply to maybe the last few things on here. My EDC is either a Glock 29 10mm in a Galco iwb or a Ruger LCR .357 Magnum either pocket carried or iwb. Just kind of depends on which one I am in the mood for, sometimes its both. Plus usually various fixed or folding knives or a karambit.
I have one single-action an older Ruger Vaquero in .45 Colt. I acquired a lever action Rossi R92 Stainless in .357 Mag from a friend last year, it is quiet nice to shoot. My dad ended up with his matching .44 Mag rifle. I agree there is always something to dream about. That 1911 sure is pretty, and I would be all about that Big Horn Armory 500 S&W lever gun as I have two Smith & Wesson revolvers that shoot it.
I am not quiet sure what I want next but I have a few ideas, everything is so expensive right now.

Completely agree; always something I would like. A .357 lever gun would be a good purchase for me. I have several .357 DA revolvers but a SSA would be good as well. I'd also like a .22 lever gun as a practice or small game firearm. The old Ruger Vaquero is a stronger gun than the new model Vaquero. The newer version has less metal and is restricted as to the pressures it can handle. I like my old model as I can put bear loads into it safely as I can in my Blackhawk. I understand the new motel feels more like the old Colts. I don't know, I've never fired one. If ammo ever gets more available I may look at a .44 Mag lever gun and SA but I really don't want to have to get a bunch of new ammo.
Your 10mm sounds nice. I have never had a bad thing to say about Glocks except that I just don't like them as well as a 1911 platform. I think it is the slight difference in grip angle. I can shoot them well and accurately but they just don't feel "right" in my hand.
How's the recoil on the LCR? I have a SP-101 snubbie that recoils a bit with full power loads. I just wonder how the recoil is on the LCR; I've fired an LCR in .38SPL and it isn't bad but I wonder about the Mag load.

Yes, my Vaquero is one of the other ones with the Blackhawk frame - I've shot some of the hot Buffalo Bore +P loads out of it (recoil similar to .44 or .454). I actually impulse bought another SA yesterday off armslist: Ruger New Model Super Blackhawk; 7.5", stainless, .44 Mag. Was a good deal and I have a soft spot for the gun because a similar blued one got me into big bore shooting at around age 17. This one has a hogue rubber grip on it which I wasnt crazy about but it actually feels really nice. The 10mm Glock is my only Glock I own but Ive shot all kinds of them, I gave my grandpa a Glock 17L a couple years ago. I like Glocks for their no frills utility and reliability but many of the modern handguns offer that now. 1911s are nice, I have a couple of them. Colt M1911A1 US Army from 1944 and a more modern desert colored Colt M45A1. The LCR is quiet snappy and you definitely feel it in the web of your hand, I'ev shot an SP-101 before and its a bit more pleasant to shoot if I remember right. I guess I should also throw this out here because I dont think I ever have, I do a small youtube gun channel in my spare time for fun if you are interested in checking it out under the name xTerminatorEightySeven. Link below. I have actually had it active almost as long as this forum but I havent done too many videos compared to other channels. xTerminatorEightySeven Youtube

This comes under the heading of what I DO NOT want for my wall. New shooter wanted me to help sight in his brand new S&W AR-15. I had to clear 4 jams in under 40 minutes. Now, he did not do a through job of cleaning it before the first firing like I suggested but it did absolutely remind me of why I will not own a rifle in the AR platform. How many failures must one witness beforE saying, "I NEVER AGAIN WANT TO PLAY YOU BET YOUR LIFE WITH THIS PLATFORM!"?
I'll help others out with their weapons but I do not trust the platform and never will.
