Anyone want to speculate a bit on what the new creature could be? So far we've heard that the Graboids and ABs will be "bigger and badder." Whether that is meant to be taken literally or just something to spice up the press release, who knows? We also have this statement from Gross on Facebook:
Gross' comments seem to be in line with my early speculation that, because these African Graboids evolved/developed in isolation from most of the other Graboids we've seen, they are going to be a bit different in some capacity. They might follow a different life cycle than the Egg > "Dirt Dragon" > Graboid > Shrieker > AB > Egg life cycle that we've grown used to. That being said, we do have confirmation that Graboids and ABs will be present alongside the new creatures, whatever they may be. Will these be the same Graboids and ABs we've been used to, or perhaps a different African variant? And how does one get from the main Graboid to the egg-laying AB without the important reproductive-stage of the Shrieker coming in between? Do we just catch up with the creatures at a moment when the Shriekers have already molted into ABs, or will the new creatures be taking the Shrieker role? When asked about the new creatures, Gross had the following to say:
The fact that "loud-mouth" is emphasized definitely makes me think of Shriekers.
So what do you guys think of the information that we have so far? Any speculation of your own?
I trust you won't be too disappointed by the fact that there are no Shriekers in the film. But because the film takes place in Africa, there are some fascinating and bizarre evolutionary "off-shoots" of our creatures.

Quite honestly, NBCUniversal has made me sign a non-disclosure agreement. The threat of a lawsuit is the only way to control a "loud-mouth" like myself. :0
