If they go all graboids I think we'll be fine, as they're so often hidden, so either they'll spend the money on good practical effects specified for those shots, or whatever CG there is will be seen so little that it doesn't really matter. You see, I think the biggest problem with Tremors 3's visuals is that the assblaster is quite an agile creature. It's hard to do with practical effects, at least on the cheap. That's why when they're doing something interesting it's all CG.
But yes, overall I totally agree that if it's possible and visually pleasing to do practical effects, do it. There will be an actual real thing to shoot and interact with. I really have to get around to watch some of Don Michael Paul's previous monster films, see how he's done it in the past. He *did* do quite a decent job at capturing "Jarhead"'s visuals in "Jarhead 2: Field of Fire", so I think he's at least competent enough to make it look and feel like a Tremors film.

Well, it might not necessarily be up to Stampede to say one way or the other. Gross has been playing coy, too. And Stampede did mention on their site a couple months ago that there were, once again, musings over on Universal's side, so they are at least aware in some capacity.
But yeah, really hope that the new guy "gets" what made the previous movies work. At the very least, if it is Stampede's script being used and nothing else, he should have a solid foundation. Hopefully Universal allows him the time and the resources to do it right.

Yeah, I don't know why they are being so secretive. Maybe the project will be bigger then we thought, I could see assblasters being in it since that was talked about on the FAQ-Burt getting a minigun finally would lead me to think he's shooting it from a mounted position at Assblasters flying in the air.

Gross' comments on that Facebook picture have been fantastic. I asked: Is there another sign pointing down beneath the ground at some of your, umm, "coworkers?" He responded saying: Hmmm, and who might those be???

It is what I like about Michael is his kindness and simplicity with the fans, in the above photo that the excrement of animals I wrote
"South Africa? Record is where will the new movie tremors? Are you there for this or is it another job?"
and he
"Simon, I wish I could tell, but I have taken an oath of secrecy. More information anon"
among other things, calling me by name!

Michael is extremely nice, I have agree. He's responded to every one of my comments on his page. Not to mention who much he enjoys teasing this film which really should be announced by now.
"Looks strangely like Australia, doesn't it?" "Hmmm, not unlike. :0)"
Damn that tease!
In response to Mr.ElBlanco: "Yeah, I don't know why they are being so secretive. Maybe the project will be bigger then we thought[.]"
That's what I've been thinking/dreaming as well. Going through the director's social media feeds there was nothing like this on his previous projects. He started talking about them long before they went into production. I'm still kind of thinking this might be a theatrical film, but I wouldn't dare bet on it.

Given the director's past history I'm not expecting a theatrical release, but I am kind of thinking that it might have a wider and more heavily promoted release than the previous films. The have the 25th anniversary to cash in on, after all.
Maybe this is just me being optimistic, but maybe they'll release a complete collection with new bonus features (something the second and third films sorely need, and the fourth in countries outside of America). Rawen, if I remember correctly you said way back on Stampede's site that you're from Sweden, right? Did your Tremors 4 come with the bonus features?

I'm Norwegian, and neither of my Norwegian releases have bonus features.
And the director's past is almost exactly why I think this *might* be a theatrical release. Just something he said in a tweet didn't seem to make much sense unless he was alluding to this being a cinematic release.
"London to Johannesburg in search of the illusive silver nitrate dream!!!" If he meant silver nitrate in reference to it being used in photography it doesn't make sense as he's already made a bunch of motion pictures, but it could make more sense if he's nodding against releasing something at the silver screen, aka cinema. Then again, it's highly likely I'm just reading way, way too much into tweets and Facebook statuses.

Michael Gross teases more on facebook, saying the most amazing creatures there are his fellow cast members. Also talking about his Film Our Father, he said he will miss a screening Oct 16th-19th which to me already feels like the shooting schedule of this will be longer then some of the previous movies.

We plan ahead, that way we don't have to do anything right now. Earl explained it to me.

He's really laying it on thick, he said the most interesting creatures he;s seen are his "coworkers". I also hope that means there is a practical animatronic Graboid on site.

In fact, we are very thrilling, but think about it, if in the end it was not a new tremors movie and everything was again buried? I do not want to think about, however, is like expecting a good thing as a gift and then find another!

Got to watch Don Michael Paul's newest film today "Sniper: Legacy". Very similar to what Tremors 5 would be in terms of logistics. Last in a line of DTV sequels, features actor from original theatrical release, stands on its own as well as setting up the universe for future adventures. And on top of that it's not even a bad film. I'm starting to get more and more confident that he could actually direct a decent Tremors film. He's certainly not a horrible director by any means, at least not on the films he's released this year.
