Hello all, There is new news rumbling around the internet regarding Tremors again. Like always, I'm here to keep you up to date on the latest goings-on. This time director Don Michael Paul (yeah, I've never heard of him either) has posted that after he finishes his current film, he's off to Africa to "reboot" the Tremors franchise for universal. Of course, he doesn't clarify what exactly a reboot entails (please god not a REMAKE). Note that this is something he posted on his personal site and not an official announcement from universal. Still, could this be the project hinted at by Michael Gross during his Q+A? Very possibly. If so, it would be silly to use the Burt Gummer character without leaving the rest of the series as canon. Here is the link to the story from Bloody-Disgusting, who in turn link to his site: bloody-disgusting.com/news/3304057/tremors-remake-still-rumbling-universal/Enjoy!

Thanks for this - I've posted a few thoughts about a potential Tremors 5 over on the Facebook page -

Just read the update on your facebook.
Not sure how I feel about this; I guess right now I'm just hoping that some of the original talent is involved and it doesn't just feel like a DTV film (the Tremors films always seemed to be of a higher quality to me than most DTV films, with 3 only lowering the bar a little bit).

I am not at the least bit interested in a reboot.

Take this with a grain of salt, but here is some more info on the upcoming production via moviehole. Now they never mention where they get their info, but according to them the term reboot is fairly inaccurate. They say the movie is essentially a sequel with an all new tech-savvy cast bolstered by Burt Gummer (still played by Gross, of course). If this information is true, and again they cite no sources, this is very welcome news indeed. It would mean this film is a much a reboot as Tremors 4 was (it being the only other Tremors film to only retain Michael Gross from the original cast). Sadly, there has still been no mention of any involvement of any kind by S.S. Wilson or Brent Maddock. Link to the article: moviehole.net/201478460exclusive-about-this-tremors-reboot

Well that gets me more excited but I still don't like it much if stampede isn't involved, makes me afraid they it won't feel authentic and if they over CGI it.

Michael Gross coming back would be great. Now if only we could hear some word on Stampede, and whether or not this is their Tremors 5 script.

Only things I am worried about is it will be all CGI, that alone would ruin it for me and the fact there is no word on Stampede's involvement-I hope the script is theirs at least.

Agreed very much about the CGI. As fun as Tremors 3 and the TV series are, the CGI was kind of overwhelming a lot of the time.
CGI isn't a bad thing by any means (see Tremors 2), but it has to be used correctly and properly balanced and blended with the practical effects.

Well, we now have more information (kinda). Stampede Entertainment has released a small statement in the Tremors 5 FAQ section of their official site. It reads:
Q : MORE RUMORS ABOUT TREMORS 5!! August, 2014
A:
I can hardly believe it myself (see the many negative posts
above), but after all these years there has been some
discussion about Tremors 5 at Universal. As usual, the
bloggers and movie websites are buzzing with fragments of
this activity that have slipped out. But we can't comment
until we know more. We will post an official update here
if/when we feel it's responsible to do so.
It's not much, but it does help to substantiate the rumors that there is indeed TALK, and that it's POSSIBLE Stampede might be involved (or at least aware). Either way, the ground is shaking.

The CGI on the show didn't bother me as much because it was for shots of making EL Blanco move rapidly, but then we got a really good puppet Graboid for shots of him close up

I'm really excited for all this, you feel that this time it's all true, there is really something to work at Universal, I'd also love to see all the new characters, burt only from old movies maybe in some new area, only I also hope to have everything to do with the mix master and therefore does not forgetful of the series! The fact that SSWilson was surprised in his message in the FAQ tremors makes me think that still has not been communicated anything to the Stampede and I'm sorry

We plan ahead, that way we don't have to do anything right now. Earl explained it to me.

Wilson told me in an email that Universal did let them know that they were thinking about making another Tremors.
