Just wonderin', what do you all think happened to her after she left Burt? And what do you think their relationship was like after?
A lot of fanfictions I read with Heather returning in it, she either gets back together with Burt after not seeing/talking to him since the split (not often) or they've stayed close friends.
But for me, I've always seen her being a little.....I dunno what to call it....stuck-up? Ish. Like, she doesn't exactly hate him, but she doesn't exactly like him. And doesn't really try to be 100% nice, either. I don't like her after the first movie, even though she's not IN the later movies.
So what about y'all? Same? Different? Or never really given it much thought?

I was always under the impression they didn't talk at all after the split.

I know! I dunno why people think they did. I mean, you'd think if they did Burt or Nancy would at least mention her at some point. And the awkwardness in the room when Red asks if the worms got Burt's wife too also points to a we-don't-talk attitude.

He is also left without any closure in a way I guess, there's still some subtle or not so subtle evidence that he misses her as late as Tremors: The Series when we find out the password to his bunker is HEATHER and to me that would indicate they don't talk at all and he misses her still without any contact from her.

That part is what spurs my thought that she doesn't treat him all that nicely when they DO talk -they've had to have spoken at least once since then, divorce stuff and such. I dunno why, it could just as easily be the opposite, but just his whole attitude and Rosalita's just makes me feel like she doesn't. So I see him as this middle-aged man still hopelessly in love with a woman who wants nothing to do with him, but he doesn't move on even though he knows it's never going to happen. That's also why I hate when people pair him up with much younger women in fanfiction: he's not going to just fall for some 20 something girl so easily while he's still in love with Heather, and plus, I doubt he'd be attracted to someone about 20 short of his age.

I somehow missed this thread. Burt is extremely uncomfortable with any emotional expression. He built his life on being a survivalist based on global nuclear war. When the Soviet Union went away, it looked like he had wasted his life. Not being able to show affection, feeling like a total failure over a wasted life, he drove/allowed Heather to leave. She obviously was a survivalist as well but had better people skills that Burt. They made a great team and appeared to love each other. Face it, Burt was going to walk out into the graboids with a lit fuse in Tremors 1. (I think I would have made Melvin do it but that's just me.) I suspect that it was just too difficult for Heather to watch him self-destruct so she left. I doubt she stopped being a survivalist and since she ask him to send her the HK-91 (Tremors 2) I think she is still living the lifestyle in a different, remote location.
Having been with my bride for 47 years, I suspect I'd be in the same shape if I lost her for any reason. I think the series could have been great in a second season with Heather back but that was not to be, I guess.
