talk about your favorite Tremors characters or favorite cast members here.
"What we're dealing with here is obviously some diabolical, water absorbing agent, that mostly likely had it's genesis in our very own long abandoned, government supported, secret biotech laboratory. For God's sake be rational."
I think that the best characters are Burt, Tyler, Cledus, Earl, Val, Grady, Larry, Juan, Fu Yen, Jodi (I named my dog after her ), Hiram, Miguel, Nancy, Mindy, Roselita, Jack, Twitchell and of course EL BLANCO! Wow, thats a lot of characters.
My favorite character is Burt, Nancy, Mindy, Miguel, Earl & Walter Chang and I want to say that I miss Heather a lot!! Somebody needs to tell me who the heck Melvin is. I never understood who he is suppose to be. Is he Nancy's son, Nester's son or an orphan? And where did he live? Was he on Nancy's porch when Val & Earl came over to clean out the septic tank in Tremors 1? Do you remember that scene? Val & Earl get krap all over themselves. I am not clear on Melvin at all. Does anyone know the answers to my questions? Old Fred
I believe that stampede said that Melvin's parents were never home and always off gambling and such. (dont quote me, because I could be wrong with this.) If true, hat might explain his personality a little
I think one liners (usually by or about Burt) are a large part of the entire collection. I love the T3 line "what kind of a benevolent deity would condone such irony" right after Burt finds out that he would have been better off feeding the critters instead of blowing his place up - or "oh, you guys really need supervision" or "you really NEED to read the comics". These things say so much about the characters and situation. I really like these guys. they all remind me of friends - even folks like Nancy that think the government is the solution to all her problems. Besides, i want to be Burt when i grow up!
Project412 I did note Melvin's apparent front porch in T-1. Makes one wonder about the shed later in the movie. His popping up in T3 made for an interesting antagonist who got Burt "slurped" and set the stage for the series. I am not sure he would have gotten off of that rock in T3 but in "Feeding Frenzy" I KNOW he'd be El Blanco bait!
Melvin may be more that we figured on ... check out my post in 'Night' ... My English lit teachers always made a big deal about writers being socially significant (Alice in Wonderland, Gulliver's Travels and Wizard of Oz come to mind) even if the writer himself denies it. Watching the series movies again last night it occurred to me - This is a great political commentary on the state of the world today. Only one is militarily prepared. Over and over again, everyone runs to Burt's for safety. In Night Burt says 'I keep trying to tell you people to get backup generators' and Nancy interrupts with now is not the time. Everyone is busy looking out for their own financial interest and trusting Burt to keep them safe. My hero Burt is the personalization of the good old USA. Tyler is Britain (prepared but really can't stand alone much of the time), Nancy has GOT to be France (meddles a lot, causes all kinds of problems and rarely contributes to the solution) and Jodie is Germany (efficient, good at making a buck, steady and on your side if you can get their attention) and so on. What do you guys think? Tremors as the great literary epic of the late 20th century.

that is so true i am very politically active and i never even would of thought of it in terms like that now does that make Melvin Russia? doesnt care about anyone that works for him as long as he has his and the arch-nemesis or Burt????
project412: Speaking of remodeling, we should definitely reinforce the basement. Ya'know, just in case.

Simsure: I'm changing my name on many sites, "blacksoul" is a thing that I had chosen a long time ago but now I do not like it at all, I found this new that is closest to my real name "Simone"

rawen100: You're a braver person than me, Simsure. I haven't used the username 'rawen100' on any site other than Tremors forums for close to seven years. I don't dare change it as people suddenly won't know it's me.

rawen100: Congrats on Tremors 5, guys!

chris: Hey guys; as fellow travelers, what would you have taken to Mexico in the back of Bert's deuce and a half? I think he got it wrong; an M-79 40mm, hand grenades, concussion not frags, and two 30 cal mg and the explosives and heavy rifles.
Dec 21, 2014 13:35:47 GMT -5
Mr.ELBlanco: kept .50 cal for Graboids, added heavier caliber safari rifles (.700 Nitro Express) also for Graboids, M240 mg for Shriekers. Probably wouldnt have carried a 9mm pistol like he did either if I was hunting Graboids, I would have used a .44 Mag or larger gun

captbart: Hi, folks. I'm back - been gone a while due to medical issues and such. At home for the moment and watching the series on Amazon video.
Apr 22, 2015 12:59:42 GMT -5
captbart: As to Chris' question - the back of the truck seemed OK, considering that he knew nothing about Shriekers at the time but my sidearms would have been .40 cal or above with bear loads or a Desert Eagle .50 AE. I think of 9 as minimal for people only.
Apr 22, 2015 13:01:33 GMT -5
Mr.ELBlanco: captbart, I was just wondering about you the other day. I am glad to see you posting again, haven't had anyone to talk weapons with.

tabasco: Captbart, good to see you around!
Apr 26, 2015 16:08:39 GMT -5
captbart: Thanks, guys. I know it has been a while. Had some back surgery then rehab, etc. Doing much better now. I retire in 60 days and plan to do some traveling. I may even try to get to the Proudfoot lab coordinates Burt calls out in the series.
Jul 2, 2015 12:53:06 GMT -5
project412: Nice to see you around captbart! Glad everything sounds like its going pretty well. If you do end up going to the coordinates, I demand pictures! I'm curious to see what the area actually is.
Jul 2, 2015 15:42:28 GMT -5
captbart: Tressdaddy51, I can't quite make out what is on Burt's vest in your avatar. Would you please enlighten me? A curious mind with 'antique' eyesight wants to know.

Vladimir: I've actually looked up the coordinates and figured out where "Perfection" is. They basically modeled it after Moapa Valley. Same spot and everything. My friend and I are planning on going there for a few days in 2017 before the eclipse. I can't wait.
