Only thing that bugs me is that none of the people from the show besides Burt are going to be in it I'd love to see Whats been going on in perfection since all this time and what happened to everyone and how they are doing and I'd like to know if stampede has any part in this doesn't look like they do though

I agree, I also believe I read Tremors 2 was intended to be theatrical to start with. That's correct, originally it was going to have $17 million budget as well. But since Stampede couldn't get Kevin Bacon to come back, Universal's feature film division lost interest. Tremors 2 was eventually made on a $4 million budget (tremors 1 was made with $11 million) for Universal's home video divion. Sources include stampede entertainment's website and an interview with S.S. Wilson (I'll try to find a link).

Huh, very interesting. Never cross my mind what would have been if Bacon had returned.

Any source on that? From what I recall, Tremors 2 was made DTV because barely anybody saw the fist one in theaters but it sold well on VHS, so Universal figured they'd skip theaters and solely cash in on the format people watched the original. I do recall an interview from a while back where they said that the ending would have been more grand in scale with a lot more Shriekers had they had the budget of a theatrical film however. That's what I've heard as well. It was right when DTV got big, and since Tremors did very well on VHS Universal wanted more. As for the South Africa thing, I honestly think it's just a location double for Australia. I doubt they changed the script that much in terms of essentials, although it would certainly be interesting to set the film to Africa. I doubt anyone at Stampede has had anything to do with the rewrites/reworkings, though. It didn't seem like they knew much about this until it was suddenly everywhere, and seeing how there's a brand new director and that it's a decade since the last installment I just don't see it. That's probably why Don Michael Paul said "reboot". They're trying to reignite this thing with a newish approach.

I honestly cannot remember where I read or heard that. I just know I did, I will research/ try to remember later tonight. Actually here on wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tremors_2:_Aftershocks under development it talks about it a bit.

Think it's safe to say this is just doubling for Australia. Don't see why they'd change it to South Africa anyways, much more impressive to find graboids in a country as isolated as Australia.

Yup, definitely has an Australian look to it.

Saw that earlier, I also think that is supposed to be Australia, looks a lot like it.

I won't even begin to hope for a puppet graboid. CGI can be done decently for so cheap today that unless Universal really wants to put a lot of money behind this I just can't see it happening. Wouldn't surprise me if we get a puppet of a tongue, though.

The fact that they went almost all practical with 4 gives me some hope, at least. CGI can be used to great effect (see Tremors 2), but if the production is rushed it just isn't going to look right (see Tremors 3).
The level of detail in the practical creatures thus far has been astounding, especially considering the small DTV budgets most of the films have had. The creatures have real weight to them; they look and feel like they're really there. It's quite impressive. CGI undoubtedly has its uses and I am in no way against it (it really is an absolutely amazing tool), but I also believe that if it can be done practically go for it, and then use the other technologies in post to enhance what you have shot and make up for what you couldn't shoot.

That I agree with.I don't believe stampede is involved this time because they would have said so by now, but hopefully the new guy takes some ques from the last movies.
